Code Of Conduct
Read these rules of conduct carefully and ask questions if you do not understand.
- The Master of the school is referred to and addressed as Sifu.
- A saluation or bow is given to the Sifu when entering or leaving the school and when entering or leaving the kwoon.
- The use of profanity is not allowed within the school.
- Always come to class well-groomed and clean. Wear the appropriate school uniform. Jewelry and watches should be removed before class.
- Be punctual for classes. If you are late, warm up on your own outside so as not to interrupt the rest of the class, then ask the instructor for permission to join the class.
- If you are unable to attend class, notify the Instructor.
- Unnecessary discussion are discouraged. Talking is not allowed during a lesson except when asking pertinent questions. Have non-related discussions after class.
- Do not interrupt the instructor when he is teaching. Do not disrupt any other student’s class or practice.
- Do not teach what you have learned to anyone else, including students of the school, without the instructor’s permission.
- Treat your fellow students with respect. Think of their progress as well as your own. Help each other practice, use control and never injure your fellow students.
- Keep a clear mind and healthy body. Smoking, drugs, or alcohol are not allowed on the school premises. They should be avoided outside of class as well.
- Maintain a kind and respectable image wherever you go. Practice with a confident, not conceited, attitude.
- Treat the kwoon and all its equipment with respect. Clean up after yourself and do not leave weapons and other equipment lying about.
Students will be dismissed for disorderly conduct.
School Rules
- Always show respect for Sifu. Wish good moral character, love and respect to the senior students and help junior students.
- Train hard in Kung Fu to understand the difficulties that Sifu overcame.
- Do not show off. Be gracious and humble in your behavior. Show respect for others.
- Do not laugh without reason, threaten others, boast, or lie.
- Do not hit someone smaller than you or use your abilities for revenge.
- Do not blame others or argue loudly .
- Do not be lazy. Remember, the literal translation of Kung Fu is “a skill earned through time and hard work.”
- Do not gossip. Do not be a bully
- Do not be greedy nor steal property from others .
- Be nice to everyone. Be modest. Be devoted to public duty. Be without ego. Be ready to help others and help them be happy.
These rules are an updated version of the original rules from the Shaolin Temple. They are posted in Chinese characters on the wall of the kwoon.
Membership
In order to maximise the benefits you can gain and to ensure that you are fully protected and insured while taking part in any of our classes, we strongly suggest that you should apply for full membership of Scotland Lau Gar as soon as possible.
The BCCMA stipulates that anyone who teaches or practices Chinese Martial Arts should be licensed and insured and it is now a condition of membership of the BCCMA that all member organisations licence and insure their students annually through the BCCMA. Membership renewal automatically renews your BCCMA licence and insurance for another year from the date of your renewal Your membership also entitles you to attend all the Scotland Lau Gar classes, courses, tournaments, squad training sessions etc., for which you are eligible, and any BCCMA approved events scheduled during the year. In addition to attendance at your usual class, your membership now also entitles you to attend any of the other Scotland Lau Gar classes in Scotland by prior arrangement with the class instructor.
Every member will now be issued with their own licence and insurance, which you should bring to every class as this assists us to monitor your progress and schedule your gradings at appropriate intervals. As Scotland Lau Gar is registered with the British Council for Chinese Martial Arts, The Sports Council Recognised Governing Body for Chinese Martial Arts in the UK , your membership of Scotland Lau Gar offers you a number of additional benefits which are only available to BCCMA members.
Am I to old to join I am 22 yearsof age
Not at all. We at the Falkirk School of Kung-fu welcome everyone whatever their age, please feel free to come along to one of our classes.
By coming along to one of our classes on; Tuesday or Wednesday, you will be able to see the mixture of students we have at the school.
I am currently looking for a martial art to take up? I have looked at Wing Chun & Kung Fu, you guys seem to be the closest…..
I can tell you that I had a really bad accident back in June where I fractured my spine, would this stop me from coming to your classes?

Our class times and locations are on our website marked;- Schedule. I would recommend (if you could) visiting the club on a Tuesday, you are more than welcome to take part in the class or sit and watch.
I can’t make it on Tuesday as I have rugby training on Tuesdays, are there classes on any other days ?

There is always Wednesday training, please feel free to check the schedule page to find a time or place which will suit you.

hi, im 15 years old nearly 16 and looking for a kungfu class to join, i have no experience at all, would i still be able to goin?
